Can I Install via apt Command in Debian 12?

or similar on Debian 12?

Yes, but…:
Current develop didn't make it into Debian 12, sorry, you can "only" install the last stable version 1.2.0 from the Debian repository.

But building it (develop) from scratch is no problem nowadays, just download the develop branch and follow the instructions therein. Feel free to ask if you have any problems doing so.

Ok, which section of bn.tex is applicable for me if I'm using Debian 12, g++ & GNU make and want to use it in my own projects?

I haven't installed any library directly from GitHub before and that's why I'm asking.

It depends on you OS, the section "Building LibTomMath" in the documentation is for Linux (Unix) only and is basically

sudo make install

in that case.

The develop branch supports cmake which might be more usefull for other operating systems.

Any good examples of how to do basic arithmetic with this? add, subtract, multiply, square and divide? I am very new to this and the demo dir didn't help me much.

... and as usual if there are no checks in place that force us to always update code and documentation, there's some discrepancy to the current source code ... but the main concepts are still true and the same, maybe there are some minor differences here are there, but I'd call that now "part of the learning curve" ;)
