Windows from Workspace 1 visible on all workspaces (with given pre-conditions) #12647

I'm also experiencing this issue. 3 monitors and 3 workspaces:- System: Kernel: 6.8.0-51-generic arch: x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: gcc v: 13.3.0 clocksource: tsc |
These changes seemed to fix the issue, though of course they reset my window manager preferences:
|
I'm also experiencing this issue too. The problem occurs randomly, there is no obvious pattern. 3 monitors and 6 workspaces. OS: Manjaro Linux |
Similar issue here. Windows are replicating across workspaces. 6 monitors and 4 workspaces. Everything was fine prior to 22.1 upgrade. Was running 22 before. OS: Linux Mint 22.1 (Xia) |
I tried this and unfortunately it did not resolve the issue for me. |
Does this happen without any extensions enabled? (Applets and desklets are fine). Is the primary monitor the left/right/middle? Can someone experiencing this run:
and paste the output? There shouldn't be personal info except possibly folder names - feel free to mask this. Thanks |
Disabling the gTile extension does not change the behavior.

Hi, thanks for looking into it.
The primary monitor on the left, extended one on the right.
I've tried that on both "mature" system with some extensions and on a vanilla live-usb. It's all the same. My current system dump:
An interesting thing I see.. |
That's an orphan value from an old removed setting - I'm guessing you've been upgrading for a while, or have kept the same home folder contents, since that setting was originally removed. The global effects setting is 'desktop-effects-workspace' now. |
Hey there,
It does appear to happen w/o extensions.

Can confirm and reproduce 100% but another way. Now for example on workspace 2 of the central monitor select a program/window that is maximized and send it over to workspace 1 with ctrl + alt + shift + arrow-left. Now rendering gets broken. When you minimize program on any monitor / workspace, every program on the same screen of any workspace gets rendered and is bleeding through. Alt + F2 => r for cinnamon restart sets the rendering back to normal. |
I can confirm that I also have this issue on LMDE with 6.4.6+faye. Also, it looks like it is not an issue in the Wayland experimental session. |

Bug description
The windows opened on one workspace are show on another workspaces.
Exactly like when the "Always on visible workspace" setting was on. But it wasn't
The windows are visible on another workspaces but are not controllable i.e clicking on them doesn't focus.
That issue was not present in Linux Mint 22.
Steps to reproduce
Pre-condition 1: Connect external monitor - in my case through usb-c dock
Pre-condition 2: Set workspaces to be on primary screen only
Pre-condition 3: Set up a few workspaces - in my case 4
Expected behavior
I expect to not see the windows form another workspaces unless the "always on visible workspace" option is selected.
Additional information
I have testes in my current system: 22.1 updated from 22 through the official update manager.
I have also tested on clean 22.1 live usb and the issue is the same.
