How to uninstall your program on Ubuntu 16.04 ? #59
Comments
Without knowing how it was instilled it is not possible to suggest uninstall method. |
Of course: I downloaded Icq for Linux at www.ICQ.com and chose the 32 bits version. I got a tar file, unpacked it and installed it as you usually do. Then I noticed that the tar file had adhered itself to one of my Unity Launcher folders which I use to structure the software that is on my ribbon. At that moment alarm bells started ringing here. I first tried to uninstall ICQ by using the synaptic package manager, but it couldn't locate the appropriate files. Then I went on the internet and found the following links. |
I showed this list to my friend who then suggested that I should contact the ICQ developers on Github, so here I am ;) |
@littlebelgianwriter please elaborate on your "I got a tar file, unpacked it and installed it as you usually do." ICQ is a single file. What do you mean by installed it? |
I followed the instructions in this article |
@littlebelgianwriter if you followed all above steps exactly and to to the very end, including
optionally remove your local ICQ data |
Thank you! I will do just that and let you know. |
#Hello,
I recently installed your program on Ubuntu 16.04, but want to uninstall, because I have no further use for it. I already tried this method https://www.howtoinstall.co/en/ubuntu/xenial/licq-plugin-icq?action=remove and this one http://installion.co.uk/ubuntu/xenial/universe/a/account-plugin-icq/uninstall/index.html Both methods didn't work. Please, could you help me out?
