Of course, cabbage lets you save and load states but, obviously this doesn't make for a convenient preset system. Besides, loading states is only a thing for standalone applications, wheareas VSTs don't let you do that manually.

Which DAW are you using? In Live or Logic for instance I can save the plugin's state as a preset. The spectral bands aren't saved however. Can you explain a use case where the built-in DAW preset system isn't sufficient?
