[Feature Request] Support for Lightning Address Protocol

Please consider implementing the lightning address protocol, to provide users a static address for receiving LN payments.

It appears that Muun is one of the few LN wallets that doesn't yet have any support for this protocol.

Hi there!

Sadly, the Lightning Address protocol doesn't really work for receiving for self-custodial mobile wallets. You have to use a custodial wallet or host your server.

There are other proposals like AMP or BOLT 12's Offers that could get us the same UX while keeping self custodianship. Hopefully they'll get standardized and adopted soon 🙏

However, Muun could support sending to lightning addresses.

While it still doesn't, you can use my small helper that allows paying to email-like Lightning addresses from unsupported wallets, like Muun. It turns the addresses to convenient invoices.

Any update on this? We just made a poster for people to donate satoshis over lightning, but Muun users can't use it :-(

Indeed some other self-custodian wallets such as Phoenix and Alby are able to scan a QR with lightning:[email protected] to send sats, but Muun is not able to decode this. I had the same issue as @xdamman a while ago when we had a poster for people to pay for Bitcoin beer at Seats2meet. People with Muun switched to another wallet to pay by this QR. @acrespo will you consider adopting this besides that BOLT12?

I'm so sorry for the delay on this. Unfortunately, I can't share any realistic timeline, but I can confirm that we definitely want to implement LNURL-pay and sending to Lightning Address.

We also can't wait to implement sending and receiving using BOLT12 and BIP353 address (which is an extension of BOLT12).
