The best approach may be reevaluated during development planning, but is the scope of this work is likely to include:
Creation of wireframes and designs by the SoftServ team with approval from WVU prior to development
Deployment of a new static page
Remapping of URLs
Implementation of design work
SoftServ is able to set this page up to be deployed when ready, with the understanding that WVU may want to choose the content at a later date. As scoped, the page will not have a CMS but will be hard-coded, with the understanding that WVU developers will be able to update as necessary in the future occasionally as needed.
Other Notes
In terms of UI, we are thinking about something more visual (video) and immersive for visitors on the homepage but that still shows them options for navigating to the site's search and browse functions and the educational resources we plan to create in the next year or so. A couple of good examples are the EJI's National Memorial for Peace and Justice site and the "Making the Met" site.
SOW: WVU would like to redesign their current homepage (https://congressarchives.org/) to look less like a repository/database and to have more of an inviting, interactive UI that includes embedded videos and links to resources. The following sites serve as reference for the type of layout and features desired:
