9.0 Released

Hey everyone! 9.0 is now the official stable release and we've updated the recommended versions of all components in the README. This is the third release under a BSL licence - if that doesn't work for you then you are welcome to continue with the AGPL version which gets all these updates after a delay.

New Features

• Support for localization, attachments and quick replies on broadcasts.
• Improved display of broadcasts on list pages (sent, scheduled).
• Allow keyword triggers to take multiple keywords (avoids creating multiple triggers just to cover spelling variations etc).
• Improved display of contacts for anonymized workspaces.
• Added input collation options to better support workspaces working with messages from Arabic keyboards.
• Added support for editing of topics and summaries on tickets.
• Added list page to see all IVR calls.
• Added support for Facebook Marketing message optins (you can now request optins in flows and handle optin responses with a trigger).
• Added support for Facebook Login for Business
• Improved display of triggers and ordering that matches how the engine selects a trigger based on specificity.
• Let all trigger types based on channel activity filter by channel.
• Display queued messages differently to messages that have been sent in contact chat.
• Tighter permissions for API endpoints so agent users can only access the things needed for their UI.

Bug Fixes

• Fix ticket and channel event triggers interrupting sessions even when a background flow is selected.
• Fix agent users not being able to access their account settings page.
• Fix archiving of campaigns with lots of events (now happens in background task).
• Fix not properly removing schedules when scheduled broadcasts and triggers are archived or deleted.
• Fix not validating address uniqueness for more channel types.
• Fix redirection back to original page when redirected to login page.
• Fix allowing flow type to be changed if a flow in an import matches by name or UUID.

Other Changes

• No more external ticket services (Zendesk, Mailgun, RocketChat). This allows us to streamline the builtin ticketing functionality and focus on making it better and more capable.
• No more HAML... it was an interesting experiment but using regular Django HTML lets us take advantage of better tooling.
• Updated to Facebook Graph API v18.

Deployment Notes

RapidPro

• This release has squashed migrations so on an existing installation you need to install version 8.3.123 and apply its migrations before installing 9.x.
• The format of the BRAND setting has been simplified. See the example brand in settings_common.py for details.
