I was quite disappointed that we weren't able to do that. The kanban plugin plans to add a lot of feature in the future, includings lists, so if the Tasks was integrated with it, it could basically works as a GUI for the plugin. |

Hey there, thank you for the idea! I haven't used the Kanban plugin, yet, so I am not sure what you mean by "supporting task creation in kanban cards". Can you please elaborate on that? Maybe with a screenshot or two? Do you want the little "edit" pencil icon that opens the modal in the kanban cards? Thank you! |

Ahhh, ok. Right now the command is only available when you are in a "markdown edit" view. The Kanban plugin uses its own view type which is why the command won't show up here. I (or someone) would need to play around with the command on kanban boards for a bit. The other topic – marking tasks as done – is probably difficult or impossible. The Kanban plugin isn't aware of tasks and vice versa. But I would need to check how the Kanban plugin handles completion. Would also require some research/experimentation. I have very limited time, maybe someone else could play a bit with it and find out how/if it could work 😊 I am happy to assist in setting up a development version of the tasks plugin. |

Hey @schemar, I could have a look and try to make at least the autosuggest work on the kanban boards, this would already make live a lot easier. Could give me some guidance, where I have to look in the code for that feature and maybe you already have an idea how to transfer it to the kanban view? Cheers! |

Hi @erik-buchholz. Thank you for the offer of help. I'm not sure I fully understand. It sounds like you would like to make improvements to the KanBan board, but that is a different plugin, so best to ask in its own github repo. Regarding the 'Create or edit task' modal in Tasks, someone is currently improving that, so I think we are OK for help there, for now. By the way, for your info, I took over maintenance of the Tasks plugin from schemar around a year ago. |

Hey @claremacrae, I think I wasn't quite clear enough. Let me try to explain better. When you annotate a task (a line with a checkbox) with the Tasks main tag, it will start to suggest you to enter the scheduled date, due date and so on. Now, these suggestion don't appear when you create a new card on the Kanban board, although each card is just a checkbox in the underlying markdown and all the cards are correctly pulled into the aggregations by this Tasks plugin. From how I understood schemar, the reason that the autosuggestion of tasks does not get triggered in the Kanban is that it uses another view. Therefore, I had the hope that it is possible to add code here such that the autosuggestion is triggered not only in markdown view, but also if a card is tagged with the global tasks identifier in the Kanban view. Unfortunately, I did not find where this autosuggestion is triggered, so that I can look the code and see if it's somehow transferable to the Kanban view. Does that make sense to you? I think a related request in this thread, but not quite the same, was to be able to trigger the modal for create it edit within the Kanban view, which is not possible either. That's not my priority, as I barely use that, but maybe the solution would be similar as both problems come down to porting the functionality to another view. Thanks a lot for you time! |

I think you are understandably confusing two different things. This topic is asking for the Kanban plugin to "Support Task creation/edit modal". The conversations above about auto-suggest here are about making the Description field in that modal offer auto-suggest for tags already present in the user's vault. I now understand that you are talking about the newer Tasks facility Auto-suggest: I would like to keep this discussion focussed on its original subject, please. I suggest you start by asking the author of the Kanban plugin if they would even like to have access to the Tasks auto-suggest code, before creating a request here to expose that code for use by other plugins. If they don't want it, there would be no point tracking the request here (in this repo). |

Just to note that someone kindly added a feature to Tasks so that other plugins can use the Tasks Create Task Modal. It is documented here: Later on it will be added to, to allow editing of existing tasks. So that means that anyone who knows the Kanban plugin code could now take advantage of this. Someone would need to create a request in the Kanban plugin project, though, for it to take advantage of this work that has been done in Tasks. If a Kanban request is created, please do add a link to it here, so anyone interested can follow it. Thanks. |

I love the obsidian-tasks plugin for setting due dates, but also like using the Kanban plugin for visual state management. It would be great if the tasks plugin could create/edit cards or card text on Kanban boards.
