• Update about the merge of the Open AD Kit and Hardware working groups, details of chair change and timezones

Review of backlog actions

• Set up a new Zoom meeting for the WG that allows participants to join from a browser instead of having to install the Zoom client
  • Faith and Bonolo were able to join the existing meeting from a browser, so this action can be closed.

Open AD Kit v2.0 scope

• Lalith pinged about the scope discussion and the group agreed to discuss the scope during the meeting as a main topic (see below)

• Kasper will look into the discussion on the scope of Open AD Kit 2.0 and comment
• General request from all contributors to comment on the scope
• Armağan (Deliver a field-deployable, reference autonomus vehicle kit which has the reference hardware (automotive safety grade), software and OTA)
• Kasper if someone put in effort into ITRI bus it could be used with Soafee architecture
• What kind of time frame is needed for the ITRI hardware to be Soafee compliant asked by David
• ITRI will use Universe and if they want to add a function they developed they will add to Autoware so nothing belongs to ITRI as proprietary it will be Autoware code and there is no open-source issues
• ITRI wants to adapt Autoware.Universe in their project and the only problem could be that we won't be able to test on public roads since their license from the local Taiwanese authority is strictly based on their current hardware/software specification -> private road testing will limit the possible use cases that can be evaluated.
• David will check about the availability of an AVA Kit in US.
• Fatih noted that it is necessary to clarify the concepts behind the Open AD Kit to reconcile all of the different views, and Kasper has been working on a document to that effect
• In parallel, Hashimoto has also been working something similar, so moved to his presentation.

• Background (summary of v1.0 achievements)
• Open AD Kit 2.0 has a goal to support ITRI's Robo-bus project, which will be the Bus ODD demonstration system.
• The demo systems vehicle hardware cannot be changed from the current specification (drawback, limitation)
• ConOps relation with the Open AD Kit for stakeholders to understand.
• OTA with OpsCon relation w.r.t. vehicle edge systems for functionality and capability update.
• High-level use cases:
  1. Develop features
  2. Simulate scenarios
  3. Integrate the system
  4. Deploy the system
  5. Debug the system
• Fatih noted that 1, 3 and 4 (local deployment only) could be achieved before, so what will v2.0 do differently? Also, what is the difference between 2 and 5? Hashimoto said that T4 is proposing additional simulators to be added that will be detailed later.

• aim of the document is to align everyone in the working group so that work can progress efficiently and in parallel

• Provides an explanation of Open AD Kit's key concepts (eg: containerization and microservices architecture) in relation to Soafee.

• Chair suggested that the WG sets steps incrementally with goals to be achieved in the short term that are presentable. For example, separate the Control function on to its own machine such as a Jetson Xavier, and verify that it can be updated OTA without affecting the system.

• Reminder that discussions have been set up for WG members to provide follow-up questions and comments for recent presentations by SUSE and eSync.
