Extracting current data from OSM of same size and shape as OsmAnd regions

In closed comment thread @vshcherb helped me find osm extract created by OsmAnd themselves here: https://creator.osmand.net/osm-extract/

Problem with extracts is they are only created on the 1st of every month.

I would like to create own build process which extracts osm data of same size and shape of OsmAnd's built in regions directly from OSM database so I can run it whenever I would like to get up to date map.

How does osmand extract this data? Can it be performed as query on OSM database? Are these queries availble anywhere?

Workaround for now is to download the .poly file from https://creator.osmand.net/osm-extract/ (each region has such file).

Convert this file to geojson polygon.

Then https://app.protomaps.com has way to upload polygon and download region.

Manual process, would be nice to find way to automate it?
