Contours installed for Ladakh, but no lines?

First time I've downloaded contours, but despite loading them onto the map, they don't appear. I get various kinds of shading, but I was expecting contour lines as I have seen in previous mapping applications I have used like MapInfo.
The map I've downloaded contours for is Ladakh, in the far north of India, where I am going this coming Wednesday (Yippee!), which is the western end of the Himalayas where I'll be riding a motorcycle for 3 weeks. A lot of big mountains there, and we'll be riding to the highest path on earth, at UmlingLa, at 19,024' / 5,800m, so contours would be nice to have.
I had considered that perhaps for remote places like Ladakh that perhaps there's no data available, but I did download a 130Mb contour file, so there should be something there.

No idea why, but contours suddenly appeared, sorry to waste your time
