[Question] Quick Explorer preview doesn't work without Hover Editor plugin? #91

Just tried Quick Explorer for the first time. Everything seems to work fine for me except the preview of the file did not work. I could navigate the files with the keyboard perfectly well but it wouldn't show a pop-up preview of the file I had navigated to. It was only upon installing and enabling the Hover Editor plugin that the file preview started working. I tried this on a fresh vault with no other community plugins and saw the same result: without Hover Editor enabled, the preview doesn't work. Is this just me or anyone else see this?

Looks like this is a new issue with Obsidian 1.5, as it works fine for me on Obsidian 1.4.16 (but not 1.5.2). I'll investigate when I get the chance.

Also, it looks like the popups actually are appearing, but for some reason they have zero width and a very short height. I've put in a request for info from the Obsidian devs, as I'm guessing this is due to a change in the positioning algorithm for popups that was added in the 1.5 versions. The problem also affects the Pane Relief plugin.

Thanks @pjeby . Yes notice that it does appear but with no width/height and therefore no content visible. My workaround - installing Hover Editor does make the full pop-up appear though for the time being.

Ok, heard back from devs, there was a code check added that cancels loading the popup if a menu is open. Looks like they will be backing it out, as it turns out the issue they were trying to fix is actually fixed somewhere else and that check isn't needed. Not sure yet when the update would be released, so in the meantime you'll need to use Hover Editor if you want previews with 1.5.

Ah perfect, will wait for the update then which will hopefully restore that functionality without having to rely on Hover Editor. Cheers @pjeby.
I'll leave this open for now, just in case anyone runs into the same issue on the current version and scratches their head like I did. At least this can help in the meantime.
