Based on learnings in the past 3 months we want to improve how we integrate Stripe Connect Express with organizations on Polar. In order to streamline setup, compliance and account reviews overall.

Main changes:

  1. One account per organization by default (accepting legacy with multiple - despite it being few)
  2. Collect account information on our end vs. on Stripe to streamline onboarding experience for customers and KYC data collection on our end

Todo

  • Deprecate Open Collective onboarding
  • Migrate account form to React Hook Form
  • Remove feature to link existing accounts to new organizations
  • Update payout account design to better reflect above
  • Move account onboarding to within Polar vs. Stripe except for the bank account details themselves
  • Introduce identity verification automatically as part of the process
