Can we send a ping to Google Analytics when the user changes widget?

Looks like this is possible with "Custom events": https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/12229021

We need to have think about what information to collect. If we just record when somebody changes widget that won't tell us much about users who change to the GO-CAM widget once and never change as the move from gene page to gene page.
