Updating Snap Camera (Unofficial)
Since Snap Camera was retired on January 25, 2023, we have to manually update it to use the latest Snap Lenses. Otherwise new Snap Lenses created with the latest Lens Studio application will not work.
About Lens Studio
- Lens Studio will continue to be updated and will contain all the files we need.
- Lens Studio and Snap Camera are similar and share a large codebase.
So let's just borrow some files from Lens Studio to do our unofficial update.
Start by downloading the latest Lens Studio application https://ar.snap.com/download
Go to your installation directory, Snap Camera and Lens Studio are installed in the same parent directory by default.
On Windows the location is:
%PROGRAMFILES%\Snap Inc
Now select and copy the CoreResources.bundle folder from your Lens Studio installation
And paste the folder inside your Snap Camera installation, you can back up the original folder with an underscore
If some AR filters are not displayed correctly, you have to download additional assets.
