What is the bug or the crash?

Projects on QGIS, both small and large keep continuously crashing without a consistent trigger. The crashing causes loss of work and unable to change things on the data system. I have checked all the normal things, there is to my knowledge no issue with security, no problem with the data, and the data being used is primarily vector or small raster files. The projects have been tried on the latest and the long term applications of QGIS but experiencing the same issue.

Any advice on what to try next would be great as the basic checks don't seem to be working. Also we have opened the projects on other peoples QGIS and it is managing fine, so seems to be specific to this individual system.

Steps to reproduce the issue

Simply opening the attribute table, creating a new field or creating a new polygon causes the crash.

Versions

Have tried using 3.34 and 3.40

Supported QGIS version

  • I'm running a supported QGIS version according to the roadmap.

@GISJessTECO, please try if the issue occurs also using a new QGIS user profile. If it does, please provide the full QGIS version info ("In the QGIS Help menu -> About, click in the table, Ctrl+A and then Ctrl+C. Finally paste here.) and a full reproducible example with a project a layer(s) and step-by-step instructions.
