Cesia es una tremenda facilitadora, curadora y practicante cultural que lucha por nuestra liberación colectiva. A través de muchos métodos, explora los legados históricos de curación para centrar la salud y la dignidad de nuestras comunidades de color. Stephanie nació en el estado de Colorado y creció en la ciudad de Aurora. Sus dos padres son inmigrantes de México y se mudaron a los Estados Unidos antes de que ella naciera. Stephanie y su familia se mudaron de regreso a Chihuahua, México, de donde son sus padres y vivió allí por dos años. Durante ese tiempo, Stephanie tuvo la oportunidad de aprender más sobre la cultura de su familia y de perfeccionar el español. Ella decidió regresar a los Estados Unidos en su tercer año de la preparatoria y seguir con su educación en Colorado. Durante sus años de preparatoria, Stephanie se involucró con temas relacionados a la inmigración y fue una de las fundadoras del Club Estudiantil de ASSET que trato de ayudar a pasar la Ley de ASSET que ayudaría a estudiantes indocumentados pagar los costos de matrícula para la universidad igual a residentes del estado.

+Stephanie se graduó de la Universidad del Estado de Colorado en Fort Collins con un título en Trabajo Social y una especialidad en Desarrollo Humano y Estudios de Familia en el 2016. Mientras que estuvo en la universidad, Stephanie también descubrió su pasión por otros temas relacionados a la justicia social y quiso hacer más para ayudar a su comunidad. Ella se unió al Centro de Apoyo para Víctimas de Abuso Sexual (Centro de SAVA) en el 2016 después de graduarse y ha desarrollado una pasión por ayudar a victimas del abuso sexual y crear consciencia sobre este tema en la comunidad Latina. Luego ella se unió a Fuerza Latina como una voluntaria en Septiembre del 2017 y está muy emocionada por ser una de las Organizadoras de la Comunidad para la organización y trabajar para empoderar y organizar a la comunidad inmigrante. Cuando Stephanie no está trabajando, le encanta ver películas, leer libros, pintar y bailar.

Mi nombre es Agustín Herrera. Tengo una esposa y tres hijos y pertenezco al Comité Directivo de Fuerza Latina. Empecé trabajando en construcción y en el transcurso de los años decidí cambiar mi futuro y abrí mi propia compañía de Landscaping. Arpi Miller creció en California en una familia y comunidad comprometida con el trabajo de los derechos humanos y la justicia social. Como hija de un refugiado Palestino Armenio, creció con constantes historias de desplazamiento, desposesión y migración. Después de la universidad, se mudó a Guatemala para aprender español y comprender mejor la intervención de Estados Unidos en América Latina. Se quedó en las Western Highlands durante dos años trabajando en una cooperativa de educadores y activistas Guatemaltecos. Regresó a Los Angeles con el deseo de estudiar inmigración y completó un doctorado en sociología en la UCLA. Durante ese tiempo, trabajó en colaboración con los inmigrantes Salvadoreños en Los Angeles sobre cuestiones de justicia de inmigración y cambio político, viajando a Centroamérica regularmente con delegaciones de investigación y equipos de observadores de elecciones. Comenzó a ser voluntaria con Fuerza Latina durante sus clínicas legales de DACA en el 2012 y permaneció como coordinadora de voluntarios con los equipos de la línea de emegencia y educacion para aliados.

Mi nombre is Elsa Santos. Mi esposo y yo tenemos tres hijos de 22, 20 y 17. Soy una ama de casa trabajadora y pertenezco al Comité Directivo de Fuerza Latina. Empecé trabajando cuidando niños. Después trabajé en un hotel de housekeeper por un año y luego me ascendieron como inspectora por los siguientes 5 años. Decidí salir del hotel y empezar a trabajar por mi cuenta limpiando casas. Erika Ramos es nativa de Jalisco, México. Ella tiene 3 niños; una niña de 17 años, otra de 11 años, y un niño de 6 años y es madre soltera. Ella tiene 17 años viviendo en el estado de Colorado. Erika se graduó en la Universidad de Guadalajara de Lic. Administración de Empresas Turísticas, en la ciudad de Guadalajara, Jalisco, México. Le gusta participar en Fuerza Latina y otros grupos donde puede ayudar a la comunidad. Al igual que le gusta ayudar en las escuelas de sus hijos. Su mayor sueño es ver realizados a sus hijos con una carrera universitaria. Es voluntaria en Fuerza Latina desde hace unos 9 meses y en su tiempo libre disfruta pasear consus hijos y conocer partes de Colorado que tiene lugares hermosos. Al igual que ayuda en su iglesia y la comunidad donde vive de la manera que pueda.

Jesús es un Soñador de Los Mochis Sinaloa, México y ha estado viviendo en Fort Collins, Colorado desde el 2008. Es un organizador en Conservation Colorado. Ha sido parte del comité directivo de Fuerza Latina desde el 2019. Gran parte de su trabajo involucra temas sobre DACA. Actualmente es parte del equipo de supervisión del Fondo de Emergencia para Inmigrantes de ISAAC y también se desempeña como miembro de la junta directiva. Jesús está estudiando actualmente en el colegio comunitario de Front Range y planea transferirse a CSU para obtener una licenciatura en ciencias políticas.

Laurie nació y creció en el valle central de California donde comenzó a aprender sobre las experiencias de las comunidades inmigrantes a través de sus compañeros de clase y sus familias, varios de los cuales eran trabajadores agrícolas migrantes. Soy Maria Castro, nací en Sinaloa, México. Tengo 4 hijos y estudie y me gradué de la carrera de Administración de Empresas. Fui administradora de una maquilladora de ropa por más de 15 años desde antes de graduarme hasta el día que me vine a este pais. Adaptarme a vivir aquí fue un proceso largo y difícil hasta que llegamos a Colorado que ha sido el lugar donde nos sentimos Bienvenidos. Por lo mismo sentimos necesidad de regresar un poco de lo que nos han dado y ser parte de Fuerza Latina nos da la oportunidad de hacer algo por los demás además de encontrar una nueva familia.

Susan Moore creció en California durante los cuarenta y los cincuenta, donde sus padrinos, Cubana y Mexicano, ampliaron sus horizontes con el regalo de la lengua español y una conciencia de la cultura latina. En los finales de los años sesenta, estudió oficialmente la antropología en la Universidad de California en Riverside, pero en realidad fue estudiante y activista de los movimientos sociales de esos años turbulentos. En 1972 se movió a Fort Collins, Colorado con su pareja Jon Slutsky, donde encontró compañeros en el grupo activista comunitario local de The Point Community Center. Recibió su licenciatura en Ciencias Animales en la Universidad de Colorado State. Susan y Jon han tenido una lechería durante casi cuarenta años. +While many of us might have inherited intergenerational trauma, we have also inherited generational legacies of healing, resistance, resilience, and (re)imagination. Our bodies are medicine. In this session, we will explore how our medicine can nourish our abolitionist movements to end incarceration in all its forms.

+We know we don’t want this harmful world, but what structures of care are we building for our new worlds? Inspired by los Zapatistas, this session explores how might we build a world where many different worlds fit? What seeds can we be planting today for our many new worlds? For worlds centered around care and dignity for all bodies?

Stephanie was born and raised in Colorado and grew up mostly in Aurora. Both of her parents are immigrants from Mexico and moved to the United States before she was born. Stephanie and her family moved back to Chihuahua, Mexico where her parents are from and she lived there for two years. During that time Stephanie was able to learn more about her family’s culture and customs and work on perfecting her Spanish. She decided to move back to the United States her junior year of high school and pursue higher education in Colorado. During her high school years, Stephanie became involved in issues around immigration and was one of the founders of the ASSET Student Engagement Club at her high school, which worked to help pass the ASSET bill in Colorado to give undocumented students in-state tuition.

+Stephanie graduated from Colorado State University in Fort Collins with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and an additional major in Human Development and Family Studies in 2016. While in college, Stephanie also discovered her passion for social justice issues and wanted to do more to help her community. She joined the Sexual Assault Victim Advocate Center in the spring of 2016 and has developed a great passion for working with sexual assault survivors and creating more awareness about this issue within the Latino community. She then joined Fuerza Latina as a volunteer in September 2017 and is really excited to be one of the Community Organizers for the organization and work to help empower and organize the immigrant community. When she is not working she enjoys watching movies, reading books, painting and dancing.

Arpi Miller grew up in California in a family and community committed to human rights work and social justice. As the daughter of an Armenian Palestinian refugee, she grew up with constant stories of displacement, dispossession and migration. She began volunteering with Fuerza Latina during its DACA legal clinics in 2012 and stayed on as a volunteer coordinator with the hotline and ally education teams.

I started working taking care of kids. Then I worked at a hotel as a housekeeper for a year and then I was promoted as inspector for the next 5 years. I was administrator of a clothing company for over 15 years since before I graduated until the day I came to this country. Adapting to living here was a long and difficult process until we arrived in Colorado that has been the place where we feel welcome. We feel the need to return a little bit of what they have given to us and being part of Fuerza Latina gives us the opportunity to do something for others along with finding a new family.

Susan grew up in California in the fifties and sixties, where her Cuban and Mexican godparents broadened her horizons with the gift of Spanish and a consciousness of Latinx culture. In the late sixties she officially studied anthropology at the University of California in Riverside, but was primarily a student and activist in the turbulent social movements of the era. She moved to Fort Collins, Colorado with her partner Jon Slutsky in 1972, where she found a place in the local community activist group at The Point Community Center. She acquired a degree in Animal Science at Colorado State University and she and Jon have operated a dairy farm for nearly forty years. Working with immigrant employees has provided a close-up education on racism in the United States and kept her working for social justice in this country.<br /> +For nurturance and pleasure, she has the companionship of her partner Jon and daughter Raisa, and enjoys her garden, reading, and quilt making as well as old friends and the new ones she meets in the fight against the threat we are now confronting.
