Bug description
When a link preview is generated using OpenGraph tags, on the Android Signal client images are always displayed in a large size when there is a description for the link. Even with preview images that are 100x100 pixels in size, they'll take up the full message width on Android if there's a description as well.
On the Signal iOS app, images smaller than around 300x300 pixels are instead always displayed in a smaller size, off to the side of the title instead of above it. This is the same behaviour that WhatsApp, Telegram and Messenger have on both Android and iOS, and which I think is the correct behaviour. Currently small resolution images that get blown up in size on the Android client can look very blurry.
On the Signal desktop client, and the desktop/web versions of the other services I've mentioned, smaller images are also displayed in a smaller size as on their mobile apps.
https://formularsumo.co.uk/articles/2025/encryption/ - this is one of the links I was using to test image embeds. The OpenGraph image used here is 295x295 pixels, which has the behaviour described above, and there's tags for a description and title, site name etc.
Screenshots
This screenshot is from an earlier test using a 100x100 pixel image to show a worst-case scenario, but the image size remains the same at any resolution on the Android Client.
