[Incompatible mods] Optifine is not compatible with wakes

Description of Issue

Optifine is not compatible with the mod "wakes" (https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/wakes)
I did the "Thanos Method" so I'm 100% sure that this mod is the one causing the issue

Installation Method

I dropped all the jar files in my mods folder

Log Files/Crash Reports

I got this message :

The game crashed whilst exception while adding particle
Error: java.lang.NullPointerException: Cannot invoke "java.util.List.size()" because "this.field_18303" is null
