"hard" aliases (or password sharing between accounts)

Sometimes it can be interesting to have completely separate mailboxes for the same person (let's say personal & work mail), but in order to decrease the friction it's useful to have the same password for both.

The problem comes when you want to change the password, you need to change it on all the "hard" aliases at the same time.

Would "hard" aliases that share the same underlying user be a feature that's interesting, or is it a bit too niche ?

You could implement hard aliases using a SQL database directory by creating a separate table with the passwords and then using a JOIN link the hard aliases to their shared password.

Right, that's because stalwart does not mandate any kind of schema, only queries ?

Also, I'm a bit of a complete noob in LDAP, do you think it would be possible to build a similar setup with it ?

I'm afraid that won't be possible unless your LDAP server allows attributes to be shared between objects.

I don't think it does (I use kanidm, it does not provide a complete LDAP server, only a lightweight mapping from it's internal state), thank you for the response
