Harvard's requirements are: https://gsas.harvard.edu/policy/formatting-your-dissertation

Dissertations divided into sections must contain a table of contents that lists, at minimum, the major headings in the following order:
Title page
Copyright
Abstract
Table of Contents
Front Matter
Body of Text
Back Matter

My dissertation was not accepted because of this!

I made a fork with the fixed version: https://github.com/mpiersonsmela/Dissertate/

But this also added some Harvard-specific formatting to the main dissertation.tex so I won't open a pull request for it.
