I own two P4010ACSCO-WF which were installed September 20, 2022. It is now August 25, 2024. The only issue I have had so far is that one of them started chirping because of a failed software update. I was directed by Kidde Support to power cycle it by cutting the wall power in order for it to reboot and try the update again. Apparently, that worked because I haven't had any issues since. 8 more years to go. 😜 |

Hi Daniel, Thanks for the feedback. That's useful information. I purchased the same item a few days ago, but have yet to power it up. I'm not installing it until the contractors are finished the drywall work. After some reading, it appears they're easy to contaminate with the plaster dust. Is it easy to assign a static IP address? I've looked at some of the reviews, and there are quite a few associated with false alarms, and what comes across as the questionable utility of the air-quality sensor. Out of the four devices I need to replace, one is at the top of a vaulted skylight shaft. Still, I'm attracted to the product because of local codes (I need hardwired and a 10-year battery), and the ability to test remotely.
Are there any regrets or strong opinions regarding your purchase? Is there anything I should know about setup (e.g. set a static IP address)? I feel I should completely check out the configuration and operation before I install the unit at the top of the skylight shaft.
