So I came up with the following new toolbar layout in Saucedacity:
The only thing that has changed is the placement of the time toolbar, which is now next to the transport toolbar. While you could technically achieve this by moving the toolbar yourself, this is now by default. I plan to rearrange more toolbars if this poll succeeds. Either way, this is a start, so there isn't much to say about the changes themselves except that more could be coming.
I took inspiration from this discussion about a Tenacity UI revamp. Both @marcopavanello and @akleja had good ideas, and I liked where they put the time toolbar next to the transport toolbar. I might take more concepts from both of these UI designs, so we might see those concepts become a reality. However, don't expect the ability to "side-dock" toolbars because that's going to be saved for Qt ;)
Finally, a note about UI changes right now: I'm fine with some UI changes (e.g., rearranging things) but I don't want to spend time refactoring too many parts of our UI (unless it makes them toolkit neutral or noticeably cleaner, then maybe we'll discuss it). Those efforts should be saved for the Qt transition.
If anyone has suggestions, please let me know. I'd love to take a look at them!
