Can you use the greater or lesser value signs without words disappearing?

Without having to put quotation marks, that is. I would just like to use for instance. Some how that just looks perfect. But what I get is

Nothing, literally. Or if I use double <> I get <> (apparently GitHub has a similar code structure, so my request is probably sounding really off 😅)

If I do use quotation marks like <"EXIT"> then I get exactly that. Nothing major, just wondering if there is a work around to that, so the player just see

It's an HTML thing. All the text we print in a Quest game can have HTML embedded, so <EXIT> thinks it's an HTML element named "EXIT".

It'll do the same here, check out <EXIT> right here after the colon (you can't see it):

You can use \<EXIT> and it should show up: <EXIT>

...or you could do ALT+174 for « and ALT+175 for »

I meant I typed '<EXIT>' (it disappeared in the reply) and got the error message. Unless I need the single quote marks as well like you used or as I see when I quoted you. So for the game I typed backward slash, less than symbol, EXIT, greater than symbol, but I still get the error.

Oh, those are backticks, and they won't do anything in Quest. That's a markdown thing to post code in GitHub, Discord, etc.

As far as the Quest error, it just doesn't like the < in some cases, usually because it deals with HTML and that is an important symbol in HTML.

If I type with no spaces

less than less than Exit greater than greater than

all that shows is

less than greater than and nothing in the middle.

If I use forward or backward slash in the front, then you just see the slash less than greater than.

I tried the ALT+174 for « and ALT+175 for » codes you mentioned. I am not sure I can perform the codes using a phone or tablet, but I did copy and paste the 《》into the browser game and that did work, thank you!
