Unable to edit the usb devices info

I've followed this article to change the way tinypilot would be visible to the systems. Unfortunately the $STRINGS_DIR variable is empty.

I think the article is outdated and I'm unable to change the manufacturer name and serial id. Need a way to do it.

Hi, @sanjeethboddi; thanks for your question about TinyPilot's USB identifiers. I've checked, and there is a mistake on the page, specifically that ${STRINGS_DIR} should be ${USB_STRINGS_DIR}, but otherwise, the information is correct. I'll update the page.

TinyPilot executes the commands shown on the page when it starts up and sets the ${USB_STRINGS_DIR} variable at that point. It sounds like you're trying to run the commands manually. Instead, to change the identifiers, you must edit them inside /opt/tinypilot-privileged/init-usb-gadget as required.

Unfortunately, as noted on the page, we don't support changes to TinyPilot's USB identifiers, so you'll need to understand and make these changes yourself. I'm sorry I can't be of more help, but I hope this information is a useful starting point.
