Mysteriuos deterministic WinUAE crashes #315
Comments
Okay, it hit again... Now I tried copying winuae-crash-dumps-400-to-531.zip Then I tried 3.6.1, it worked. After that, everything is back to normal again... WTF? It just "resolved" itself without me doing anything special (just dicking around with previous versions for 10-15 minutes, but I haven't rebooted or quit any other running program). I mean, it could be faulty RAM or something, but unlikely as everything else on my PC is rock stable and I had 5 other apps open while doing this exercise. |
Yes, GTIII-OSD64.dll is in crash dump too. It probably works without crash when using 32-bit version or Direct3D9? Disabling ASUS software overlay (if it is possible) probably also helps? I have had similar mysterious crashes few years ago from some other program that wanted to hook to D3D11 to show something, I think it was some sound card driver or something. |
In the end I didn't uninstall just disabled its ODS features. I only use it for fan control. No crashes so far, so it should be good.
When this happened, I was also suspecting it's some D3D hook thing, so I switched back to D3D9. Same crash. |
It happened to me twice now that WinUAE 5.3.1 just crashes outright and creates a dump file whenever I start any configuration (including the default config).
Once the problems start, nothing seems to help, only a reboot (closing all programs, removing ReShade from the WinUAE installation folder, etc.). The good thing is the reboot always fixed it, though. This never happened to me in the past, but I realise it might be some other software issue outside of WinUAE.
Here are some dump files, maybe these will point us in the right direction (even if it's not a WinUAE problem):

This is my hardware config. I've had this config for more than 6 months now, so I doubt it's driver related.
