there is code in the registration to automatically close registration based on the date, but it seems github actually needed a new push in order for the cache to clear (or whatever caused the rebuild to implement the correct code). so, we may want to add to instructions to have a minor push the day after the event.

Is there a github action that could run here? I'm spitballing, I have no idea what's possible.
