Footer emoji do not display on older operating systems #28

Emoji availability is unevenly distributed so the emoji used in the footer menu either do not display or show as a blank square on some operating systems, such as Windows 7, Mac OS X Yosemite and older versions of iOS and Android.

Aw, nuts. I'd hate to use images, but maybe I can fallback. I use emoji all over the place.
