Banner Ad - Guidelines #215

Overview

It'd be useful to have some guidance on creating brand-consistent banner ads, as well as some examples/templates.

I'm not suggesting we standardise banners, but it would be good to have templates to make quick/simple ads with minimal effort.

Prior Art

Below are some examples of banner ads that are either in use, or in the "concept" stage:

Template Concept

I made the following banners for home insurance, using common elements from the banners we're currently using in production. They are intentionally simple: the image can be changed depending on the context, and the text is easy to swap out too.

350x250-light-4
468x60-light-3
350x250-dark-2
468x60-dark-1

Discussion

  • Would these banner ad templates be a useful inclusion to uStyle?
  • Can these designs be more generic?
  • Are they "on brand" enough?
  • Is banner ad creation much of an issue for other verticals?

Would these banner ad templates be a useful inclusion to uStyle?

I'd say so. It's always good to have a base guideline, for those who don't know where to start.

Can these designs be more generic?

I think they are fine how they are. Though of course they need to be updated to use the new logo.

Are they "on brand" enough?

As far as I am concerned!

Is banner ad creation much of an issue for other verticals?

That, I can't answer, (yet).
