I think for knowledge bases with lots of tags & articles it could be helpful to have a different layout for displaying categories/tags

  • standard layout (current)
  • condensed layout (to fit more text/categories onto screen for reader to digest info quicker)
  • tree view (expand categories/tags and optionally display article links in tree view as well), tree is displayed on left even when viewing an article.

For the record, I would also add a grid style with bigger icons, I've been looking for an old CSS code that I made to achieve that, I stopped using it because I had some problems but now I can't find it... I mean something typical like this:
