Since we use CBT+purge snap data, we do not see the VM snapshot in the VM/snapshot view anymore, which is great!

However, the VDI is still visible in the SR/VDI view:

Since there's no indication it's a "metadata" only VDI, people might think the snapshot is still there. Also, if you try to export it, it will fail with a blank page showing:

So we probably need to mark them clearly as metadata only, and remove the capacity to export. Or something like that.

I agree it's an issue we should address, also, this VDIs may be marked as orphan in the Dashboard/Health view.

Maybe we could have a "special* VM to attach all these VDIs to?

You have limits on number of VDI to attach, so it doesn't sound plausible to do this (also what about local SR? we need a special VM in each host?). I don't think that's the best way. It might be better to just mark them correctly in this view.

Note: I'm not seeing them orphaned in our prod XOA.
