Does the iPad share its network with the RPI5?

I'm wondering if an iPad with cellular internet access will share its internet with the RPI5 when following this tutorial. I have an iPad, but would like to avoid buying the RPI5 if that doesn't work.

Followed the guide, I can not get internet sharing working with iPad or Mac. I can connect to rpi5 with SSH but no internet.
