If you cast Slice and Dice with the Slayer's Armor 2-piece bonus, you get 5% more haste from Slice and Dice. This is a very large benefit, but the Slayer's Armor will soon fall behind in power relative to new level 80 gear.
If you cast Slice and Dice with the Slayer's Armor 2-piece bonus, and then unequip the armor, and then cast Envenom or Eviscerate with Cut to the Chase talented, your empowered Slice and Dice will be refreshed - even though you are no longer wearing the armor.
This means, with some clever planning, you can maintain the 5% haste from Slayer's Armor indefinitely, without having the armor equipped. All forms of this clever planning, however, include rushing and/or delaying the other members of your raid at specific times to cater to your specific snapshotting ritual.
If snapshotting rituals are intended behaviour, there will be strife among members who all want their own snapshotting ritual schedule to be upheld, and there will be conflicts in the timings of all events to cater to all players. The timings of these rituals are very precise, as you can see below, and lining up multiple different ones is sure to produce strife.
If snapshotting rituals are not intended behaviour, there will be strife among members who do not want to be slowed down to cater to a single individuals power output, and among members who simply want to perform the best that they can, rituals or no.
If it is desired to remove this behaviour, I have two suggested courses of action:
Either of the above suggestions will remove the ability to bring the power from 2-Piece Slayer's armor into combat without having the armor equipped.
If dual-spec is unchanged, however, it will still be optimal for a raiding rogue to have their off-spec be a Premeditation/Honor Among Thieves spec, to begin every boss encounter with a Slice and Dice rolling. Changing Dual Spec to remove personal buffs would be required to remove this interaction.
Recreation:
There are two main ways of enacting this in a real boss fight scenario:
Bring in from a previous fight
-Plan which encounter you want the 5% haste but no armor on, and on the encounter before that:
-Equip 2-piece Slayer's Armor, and wear it for the entire encounter. Optionally wear 2-piece Netherblade as well, to give you a longer Slice and Dice to give you more time to get that first Envenom refresh later.
-Save 5 combo points on the last enemy, and cast Slice and Dice at the last possible moment of combat.
-As you exit combat, unequip your old gear, and equip your new and powerful gear.
-Quickly engage the intended encounter, and cast Envenom before your original Slice and Dice fades.
You now have 5% haste for the entire encounter, assuming Slice and Dice never fades, at no cost to your character power.
Dual Spec Shennanigans
-Plan which encounter you want the 5% haste but no armor on.
-Before engaging that encounter, make sure you have time to complete the follow ritual:
-Equip 2-piece Slayer's Armor. Optionally wear 2-piece Netherblade as well, to give you a longer Slice and Dice to give you more time to get that first Envenom refresh later.
-Swap your regular specialization to a specific specialization which includes Premeditation, and optionally Improved Slice and Dice and Honor Among Thieves.
-Cast Premeditation on an enemy, and cast Slice and Dice. Optionally have a healer land some critical heals, also generating combo points to give you a longer Slice and Dice to give you more time to get that first Envenom refresh later.
-Respec to your desired specialization and equip your new and powerful gear.
-Quickly engage the intended encounter, and cast Envenom before your original Slice and Dice fades.
You now have 5% haste for the entire encounter, assuming Slice and Dice never fades, at no cost to your character power.
