Solax X3-7.0-T-D RS485 readout possible?

I've been struggling with getting a RS485 readout from my Solax X3-7.0-T-D inverter (with pocketlan 2.0). The manual is in line with what's shown in this tread, with RS485 UTP connection on pin 4 and 5.

I've now tried with WaveShare USB and ethernet RS485 converters, but both give a connection time-out error when testing via modpoll. I received a modbus protocol from Solax support for this inverter type, but fail to get a readout whatsoever. Does anybody have any experience with this type?

Note that there is no RS485 specific setting in any of the inverter menus. It does have 'export control' enable / disable, but I think this only applies when connecting an actual three-phase current meter.

What Baud rate are you trying to use? Is this a Gen4 Hybrid? If so it's 19,200 you can see a list of the common ones here

If it's an older Gen3 (Sometimes identifies as a G1/2 in the cloud) then you have built in ethernet.

The version numbering on these inverters is not helping on clarity :-)

The unit is from 2019, it's not a hybrid. The Solax app / web interface refers to the unit as X3-MIC/PRO. The modbus protocal that was shared with me by Solax mentions it applies to X3-MIC inverters and mentions 9600 bps (in line with what's mentioned on the page linked by you), as well as slave address 11, including all register values. I have not tried much beyond readout of serial number, as there seems to be no response by inverter at all (the WaveShare is reacting to the command, but not receiving answer back from inverter - it seems).

I thought the default slave address is normally 1?

Tried that as well, but no luck on that either. Not sure whether I'm allowed to share the protocol document here (can share via mail if useful), but let me share a snippet from it that shows an example query. I also tried different cables, but unfortunately that changed nothing.

Solved it!

Following the comment of @wills106 I ignored the Solax manuals suggestion to use address 11. Finally got a reading from the WaveShare ETH module using modpoll tool. For example, to get today's output: modpoll -1 -a 1 -r 0x426 -c 1 -t 3 -o 1 -l 100 -m tcp [WaveShare IP]. Important to get the settings of the WaveShare exactly like in the screenshots below:
