Describe the bug
Since ~2 weeks ago the sim stopped working for me in Chrome/Edge/Brave browsers but it works perfectly fine in Firefox. After some troubleshooting I noticed that if I change the CPU cores in the settings it works but of course slowly.
Today after a whole day of troubleshooting I finally figured out what is causing the issue, it was my NOD 32 (ESET Internet Security) antivirus program. I guess they added some new feature to the antivirus and now I guess it detects these browsers and thinks something malicious is running(like a mining script). No idea why its ok with Firerox.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Open the sim in Chrome/Edge/Brave while having the latest ESET Internet Security installed (Version 18.0.12.0)
  2. Select more than 4 cores in the settings
  3. Run the sim
  4. It stops almost immediately

Expected behavior
I hope you can fix it and remove it from the antivirus malicious search

It just froze like this

Desktop (please complete the following information):

  • OS: Windows 10
  • Browser: Chrome Version 131.0.6778.86 / Microsoft Edge Version 131.0.2903.70 / Brave Version 1.73.91 Chromium: 131.0.6778.85 / Firefox version 133.0
  • ESET Internet Security installed (Version 18.0.12.0)

Additional context
As mentioned above when I disable the antivirus protection the sim works ok but when I enable it the sim cant run in the 3 browsers Chrome, Edge, Brave. But there is no problem with Firefox.

Does your AV say anything if this happens? Also could you check what the browser console shows when sims fail to finish?

Don't think we can do much about this if it is indeed some kind of background miner protection. You probably need to whitelist the wowsims website so it stops blocking it.

Thanks for the reply. No, my AV does not say anything, no messages or warnings. There is no errors in the console, it just stops

I guess I will whitelist the website and see how it goes.
Cheers.
