Ctrl+S causing freeze

Super excited that my daughter and I built a Zero Writer. Unfortunately, every time we try to save it freezes the system :( Any suggestions? Thanks!

I just ssh'd and it states:
client_loop: send disconnect: Broken pipe

hi, if you are getting broken pipe messages it probably means SSH isn’t being reliable. I would suggest connecting your pi to a display via HDMI so you can see what the error could be. Just so I can help further.. is this for the 2.2 branch (new displays, has menu functions) or the main branch (old displays)? The program freezes / crashes when saving only (ctrl+s)? it writes a cache file automatically — does the cache file persist / does your text hang around (when you reboot the zerowriter?)
