5 Training

  • Update on APSIM Week - dates, bookings etc..
@sarahcleary provided an update on confirmed date and location. @APSIMInitiative/reference-panel comfortable with RP Strategy meeting on Tuesday with Symposium on Wednesday.

  • Discussion on APSIM Forum structure, topics and invited speakers
Discussion on whether Symposium should be solely Next Gen. Noting there will be a focus on a transition to Next Gen. Agreement that talks need to fall under the brief of 'cutting edge'. Agreed that the topics and suggested speakers should be finalised out of session through use of a google-type document for everyone to provide input.

  • Suggestions on possible APSIM Workshop topics
As above - provide suggestions via a google doc with suggestions of facilitators.

ACTION Provide google doc for input. Include comments from RP session and any other ones received via email.

6 Website/Communications

  • Update and discussion on ResearchGate

Discussion on purpose of RG and the original idea of having RG as a platform to engage with other APSIM users. Currently not achieving this. Many RP reps do not have a good understanding of how and why to use RG. @sno036 offered to provide a short (15 min max) RG demonstration/training session in next RP meeting. @yashvirchauhan note he used RG for pushing out papers - as most users do. @sno036 suggested utilizing RG for engagement with broader community around topics for workshops and symposium. Also could use when organizing workshops arising from RP Strategy session. Seek self nominations on both RG and GitHub.

  • Update and discussion on Website/Communications

New articles/papers. @sarahcleary request for information to be highlighted on the website.

7 Other Business

@Keith-Pembleton provide an update on plans to explore predicting parameters for soil in "extreme" environments. @APSIMInitiative/reference-panel requested that this is put as a new science issue as changes may involve a change in infrastructure.
ACTION @Keith-Pembleton to submit a new science issue

Noted that @kchenu had issues with audio for last part of the meeting. Welcome @kchenu to provide any comments out of session on the discussion.
