The Settings window
Oh, you did not know that this app offers settings? No problem. This page will guide you how to access it and customize the flyouts your way.
- Double click on the icon of ModernFlyouts located in the system tray. The settings window will open up.
- Right-click on ModernFlyouts app in the Start Menu. Choose settings. The settings windows will open up.
So you have made it to the Settings window? Good!
The settings page offers various ways to customize the flyout. Continue reading to get to know the various settings. You can change the pages via the side menu, if you don't see the items, click on the 3 lines button on top-left to open up the menu.
This page offers "general" settings for the app. (Some settings will be described as and when needed.)
-
Default Flyout : This gives you the option for whether you want the Windows default flyouts, Modernflyouts' or none of these two. Since you have installed this app for the purpose of replacing the flyouts, leave this option for Modernflyouts.
-
Flyout default position: This lets you choose the default position for the flyouts to appear.
-
Warning - Do not play with flyout default position setting as setting incorrect and extreme values will render the flyout out of the display and no way to recover it. Keep values of preferably less than 50% of your display resolution, or less than 500,500.
If you have already messed up the location of the app, reinstall the app or clear the app data via settings.
This page offers ways to customize the appearance of the flyout through various ways.
-
Topbar visibility : This setting allows whether you want the flyout topbar to be shown, auto-hidden, or completely hidden.
-
Flyout background opacity : This allows changing the opacity of the flyout and make it transparent/semi-transparent. Proceed with caution for this setting.
-
Show icon in system tray area : Choose whether you want to hide the icon for the app from the system tray. If you find yourself opening setting page too often, better keep this setting "ON".
-
Tray icon color mode : This allows for either going for the default blue icon on system tray or the theme-aware black/white icon.
-
Flyout timeout (ms) : Allows for changing the duration the flyout appears when you have triggered/opened it. Proceed with caution for this setting. The recommended value for this setting is the default one. (1000ms = 1 second, just in case 😉)
Each page in this section includes specialized settings for every flyout. It might happen that some pages might be empty. Do not worry about that. We are still thinking and experimenting with things to give you the best experience. Each page offers the option to enable/disable that particular flyout on the top of that particular page.
