Chrome extension to scrape student names from Piazza and summarize participation.
The scraper works as of 2021-09-23. If Piazza updates their HTML structure, the scraper will have to be updated.
- Save and unzip extension “Scrape Piazza” on local computer
- Open the Extension Management page by navigating to chrome://extensions or by clicking on the Chrome menu > Window > Extensions.
- Enable Developer Mode by clicking the toggle switch next to Developer mode.
- Click the LOAD UNPACKED button and select the “Scrape Piazza” extension directory.
- Ta-da! The extension has been successfully installed.
IMPORTANT: Reload the Piazza web page after you have installed the extension (in case you opened it earlier already).

Open Piazza and click on the “Scrape Piazza” extension.

On Piazza, click on the post (e.g., W2 discuss: Ch. 2, Data), open the extension and click on “scrape current page”

You can download the data as a CSV file or repeat step (2) and continue to record additional pages.
