Kepubify doesn’t work either. I’ve used epub original field comics downloaded from other platforms and still can’t use the bookmark function using kepubify.I don’t know if it’s a system limitation or if need to add some special code.

Simply renaming an epub to kepub like kcc does won’t work according to kepub spec.

Sideloaded EPUBs with the ".fxl.kepub.epub" or ".kepub.epub" will disable bookmarking and note keeping. Thumbnails for covers may not display. Otherwise the reading experience and content display will be identical to how the file would display when loaded through the store. Leaving the extension as ".epub" will enable bookmarking and note keeping and will trigger the ADE display engine.

I have tried something similar, using the Kindle option to convert the epub file produced using kepubify, but I still cannot use bookmarks. The epub comics exported using the download method officially provided by the kobo platform and then converted using kepubify still cannot use bookmarks.

The dude in the other thread said he just downgraded to 4.31

Seems it's a kobo bug so you should follow up with kobo.
