Brigades and brigade members contribute to the body of linked, open data about civic life by making civic data discoverable, easy to syndicate and easy to process by computers.
Find data that are meaningful to a known, easy to identify set of "customers"
If data are not online, put the raw data online at a URL for reference purposes
If data are not in a machine-readable format then write a transformation process to convert source to machine-readable
If the data are in a proprietary format then write a transformation to convert to an open format
Write a description of the data that includes links to sources, transformations and results
Publish the description of the data to a URL
Add the description to a catalog of linked, open data sets
Tell customers about the new data
A "customer" is anyone who's interest in the data is something other than how it is processed and published by computers. Customers have a "business domain" interest in the data.
