The original 1.0.8 version by saturo will compile but does not run on my Ubuntu 12.04 and RedHat 6.4. The error message is:

./ttyrec

Out of pty's

Terminated

I googled and lead me to http://paperlined.org/apps/rhel/building/ttyrec-1.0.8.RHEL5.txt where a patch file is applied. I applied that patch file here.

I also added a new command option -x to ttyreplay to normalize the replay speed to my tastes i find useful especially when my recorded session at some points in time gets idle. When invoking as 'ttyreplay -x' you can exit the replay by pressing 'x'. You can pause/resume by pressing SPACEBAR.
