## What is Decidim? | ||
Decidim is a free and open source digital infrastructure for participatory democracy.
Institutions and organizations around the world use Decidim to articulate governance and participation processes in a simple way: citizen initiatives, participatory budgets, strategic planning or collaborative legislation, in an open and democratic way. It is currently operating in more than 450 cities, regions and organizations around the world. It is being used in Barcelona, Helsinki, France, Italy, Brazil or Mexico, to name a few.
Technically it is a Ruby on Rails project, a generator and some gems that help organizations make decisions and organize deliberative processes. It works through an online and offline participation website.
We try to make all decisions open on GitHub and also with our own platform (at MetaDecidim).
