# Talker Backend | ||
|
||
This is the backend server for a real-time chat application built with Node.js and Socket.IO. | ||
|
||
## Prerequisites | ||
|
||
- Node.js | ||
- npm | ||
- MongoDB | ||
|
||
## Installation | ||
|
||
1. Clone the repository: | ||
|
||
git clone https://github.com/farooqpk/talker-backEnd.git | ||
|
||
|
||
2. Navigate to the project directory: | ||
|
||
cd talker-backEnd | ||
|
||
|
||
3. Install dependencies: | ||
|
||
npm install | ||
|
||
|
||
4. Create a `.env` file in the root directory and add the following environment variables: | ||
|
||
PORT= your_port_number | ||
DATABASE_URL= your_mongodb_url | ||
ACCESS_TOKEN_SECRET= your_access_token_secret | ||
REFRESH_TOKEN_SECRET= your_refresh_token_secret | ||

## Usage | ||
|
||
1. Start the server: | ||
|
||
npm start | ||
|
||
2. The server will be running on `http://localhost:8000` (or the port you specified in the `.env` file). | ||
|
||
