Before you dive into Chapter, please make sure to read the following:
- Quincy Larson - Dallas, TX USA
- Oliver Eyton-Williams - Brussels, Belgium - Full-time with freeCodeCamp and some time is now allocated to Chapter
- Jim Ciallella - Greenville, SC USA
- Tom Mondloch
- Oliver mentioned Ravi has been an active current contributor.
- We've been making steady progress on the MVP issues.
- Oliver has been reviewing the "MVP tagged" issues are filling in some gaps.
- Tom has helped add authorization / permissions tables and some other tweaks to the database to update the existing database schema
- Blockers
- There's a feature where if you email an iCal file it will update a Google Calendar
- Oliver has been researching how to implement authorization in GraphQL and said you write code that handles a particular request so there's no built in feature specifically for managing auth. He's going to do more research but we agreed we're not changing the framework and if it's not "private by default", then we need to be more careful about security in the code. Oliver will continue the lead on the authorization related code.
- Deployment is still a bit of a question mark. Quincy suggested handing it off to the fCC internal staff for initial deployment at chapter.freecodecamp.org
- Quincy said the near-term focus shouldn't be on how other owners will deploy, via Heroku, or otherwise. We fill figure out deployment once MVP is live on fCC as an "eat your own dog food" example for others to see.
- Jim will do usability research about if other event services automatically provide an event-specific link where calendar services can poll for any cancellation or update changes to the event. Calendars of interest to start are Google calendar, iPhone calendar, and Outlook calendar.
- Quincy asked Oliver and Tom to focus primarily on Chapter development in the coming weeks.
- Tom will review open MVP issues and help close them through PRs.
- Quincy has reviewed the open MVP issues with Oliver and was able to narrow our focus for the coming weeks by re-labeling some of those as "roadmap".
Quincy will share an invite on the Chapter chat channel for the next meeting once we establish another meeting is warranted. (UPDATE: The chat was later switched back to Discord in mid-2022)
