Hello 👋🏻 I've been active in the foundation for some time I'd like to become a regular member.
I have been contributing to Node.js regularly, and to many of the working groups.

Hello 👋🏻 I've been active in the foundation for some time

Hey Marco 👋 could you list some of your activities on the Foundation? Was it through Collab spaces? Some of us might not be familiar with your contributions, so it'd be great if you could describe them!

I'm not sure what you mean by activities, according to definition:

To be considered an active OpenJS Collaborator, one of the following is required:
Activity within a project, community, or collaboration space.
A demonstrated level of contribution to the CPC's work during the past 30 days.

I guess the list of contributions on Node are enough to be considered "active OpenJS Collaborator"?
I've also been around security collab space. Or partecipated openjs summit?

A demonstrated level of contribution to the CPC's work during the past 30 days.

Have you bee contributing to the CPC for the past 30 days? Have you joined CPC meetings, worked on Collaboration Spaces under the CPC? I'm asking this out of curiosity

Being a project member is just one of the requirements 👀

Edit: To be clear, I'm not saying that you don't fill the current requirements, nor I'm saying that you need to fulfil both.

The definition states: To be considered an active OpenJS Collaborator, ➡️ one of the following is required: ⬅️

  • Activity within a project, community, or collaboration space.
  • A demonstrated level of contribution to the CPC's work during the past 30 days.

Can you point me to the documentation where other requirements are defined?

What other requirements are you referring to? I'm talking about "A demonstrated level of contribution to the CPC's work during the past 30 days.", I am personally not aware of your work within the CPC and have never seen you in a CPC meeting 😅 that's why I am asking what your contributions to the Foundation were so far. You mentioned having collaborated with the Security Collab Space, so I'm just asking what contributions you made. (Just out of curiosity!)

I think it's just normal to just ask what your contributions are 😅 🙈 (I might be wrong tho!)

It seems there is a misunderstanding:
According to the documentation is not REQUIRED A demonstrated level of contribution to the CPC's work during the past 30 days.

To be considered an active OpenJS Collaborator, one of the following is required:
Activity within a project, community, or collaboration space.
A demonstrated level of contribution to the CPC's work during the past 30 days.

ONE of the two is requirements is needed which in my case is:

  • Activity within a project, community, or collaboration space.

I keep highlighting that it states one of the following is required.

I think there's a misunderstanding here, I'm not saying both are required, I'm just asking what your collaborations to the CPC are if any, because I haven't seen you around. My commentary are by no means any sort of objection to your onboarding here ;)

Edit: I assume I had some poor writing on my first comment, so that's my bad!

To make it even clearer, I'm just asking out of curiosity. My intent behind here is that I'm curious on what you've been contributing over here. Since I genuinely think you'd be a great addition and would feel excited to collaborate with you. I assume my intent was not clear enough.

To be clear, you don't need to answer to my question of "What have you been contributing to the Collab Space", you're not obliged, but I'd assume a reply out of good faith 😅

Anyhow, LGTM and I'd be more than happy to have you here 🙇

@marco-ippolito has been active in the Node.js project and has additionally joined some CPC related meetings, including the security collab space meetings.

The comments in this issue are not helpful in any way and could easily discourage contributions from new folks. Let's avoid this in the future, @ovflowd. If you would like to learn more about someone's contributions to the foundation or a project that are outside of the requirements to become a member, simply start a conversation on Slack or elsewhere. Thanks.

Welcome @marco-ippolito 🙌

Thanks, Joe! You're right; the comments were unnecessary, and this sort of questioning could have been done through different channels. I'll keep that in mind 🙇

I've chatted with Marco in a DM, and I believe he understood my intent with the messages. Still the PR got polluted with some commentary that could have been avoided, for that I'm sorry!
