I know this is slated for v5.0, but having been 4 months, why wait to roll out a great update?

It's just that it seems tardy; there should be an enthusiasm to improve the users' experience, surely.

1. "this doesn't help"—it's an update, so by definition it does, as does a reminder. Delays happen but they may be necessary or unnecessary.
2. "v5.0RC1" is available"—this is helpful, although represents a fineprint many if not most users won't be privy too.
3. "backport for 4.6.7"—there's a solution.

Ideally it should just show up here, I would think:
