INSTALL instructions: As with any plugin/package you have many choices for installing, choose one of the following:

#1. You can use the module file.

 a. first, copy the plugin for your architecture up to the "plugins" folder

 b. edit the contents of the module file (partio4Maya.mod) to point to the full path of the
"partio4Maya-0.9.3b_10-05-2012" directory and then add the module file to
the modules directory of your install, or add the path to the
partio module file to the $MAYA_MODULE_PATH environment variable

#2. add 3 separate environment variables to your environment or the Maya.env file in your preferences.

  • MAYA_PLUG_IN_PATH =L:/partio4Maya-0.9.3b_10_05_2012/plugins
  • MAYA_SCRIPT_PATH = L:/partio4Maya-0.9.3b_10_05_2012/scripts
  • XBMLANGPATH =L:/partio4Maya-0.9.3b_10-24-2012/icons

#3. copy the contents of the icons, plugins and scripts directories to existing directories that are already on the environment paths for each.

NOTE about ZLIB:

This verison of partio4Maya on windows, SHOULD NOT need additional dynamic linking libraries (dll) for zlib any more. I haven't tested this much yet on anything except windows7, so I am not sure if this new statically linked version will still have problems with XP, If someone can verify this as working or not working, I'd appreciate it.

Launch Maya, and search for the plugin in the plugin manager. If you see partio4Maya then you have gotten it right!

**Create some handy shelf buttons! ** Partio4Maya now comes with a full importable shelf with all the tools ready to go..
From the maya UI, import the shelf using the usual tools from the pulldown menu next to the shelf to import a shelf.

As usual, if you have any problems/bugs/crashes post here:

partio4Maya issues tracker

and you can ask questions at: partio-discuss google group

enjoy! -johnc (redpawFX)
