YouTube Video Summarizer (Chrome Local APIs)

This project turns the Tab Content Extractor GitHub project into an extension that summarizes YouTube videos, with the help of the Chrome Local APIs. To use the extension, you need the latest Canary Chrome build and to enable the correct Chrome experimental features. If you are intent on using this extension, you should join the Chrome Early Preview Program. Support for installation and usage issues will not be addressed here. You can get that help from the Chrome Early Preview Program:

https://developer.chrome.com/docs/ai/built-in

Prerequisites:

  • If you can't get the Summarization API Playground to work, then this extension won't work for you either
  • The YouTube video must have a transcript

How To Use It

  • When you are on a YouTube video page, just click the extension button and it will automatically grab the video transcript text, plug it into the prompt text box, and initiate a summarization operation using the summarize API.
