Setting Up Backend

Setup PostgreSQL

• Please follow this tutorial and the linked articles to configure PostgreSQL Database
  • Database Name : 'sms19'
  • User: 'sms19admin'
  • Password: 'password'

Create a python3 virtual environment

python3 -m venv sms19-env
source env/bin/activate
pip install -r requirements.txt

Apply Migrations

python manage.py makemigrations
python manage.py makemigrations main
python manage.py migrate
python manage.py migrate main

Create a superuser for Django

python manage.py createsuperuser

Run the server

python manage.py runserver 0.0.0.0:8000

Verify that the Server being used is MySql

./manage.py shell
>>> from django.db import connection
>>> connection.vendor

Note

• Migrate after every pull from the repository
